Tips to pitch to retail buyers for small businesses
Rekha Mehr, former Buying Manager for Amazon and Waitrose, understands what buyers are looking for will share her tips on getting your products on the shelf. She has also secured her own listings in Fortnum and Mason in her first business Pistachio rose.
The event will cover:
- How do I approach the buyer? (especially if they wont return my calls/emails!)
- How much sales history/proof of concept do I need?
- How do I talk about pricing/margins without giving everything away?
- What do I do if they ask for exclusivity?
- They said yes but I haven’t heard anything since, what do I do?
Rekha is a former Buying Manager for Amazon and set up her first business in 2012 in food production, gaining press coverage and industry awards whilst supplying customers like Fortnum and Mason. In March 2013 she was recruited by the Department of Business, Innovation & Skills to be their Start-up Entrepreneur in Residence, providing insight on the struggles of starting up and helping shape policy within the business support landscape.
Rekha is passionate about supporting small businesses, working with entrepreneurs on a 1:1 basis to create the perfect pitch for their own products. She is also bringing the world’s largest accelerator & competition, MassChallenge, to the UK to support the most high impact and disruptive ideas.
