  1. James Richardson, director at Metric Accountants, the only UK chartered accountancy firm to focus entirely on Technology and High Growth companies.

What makes a startup successful? 

In his role, James advises companies ranging from pre-revenue startups to multi-national groups. He regularly advises such companies on fund raising, specialist tax advice, business valuations, strategy and employee incentive schemes, as well as accounting compliance and audit services. James is a regular speaker and writer for well-known business and technology publications, and is also a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and the Chartered Institute for Information Technology.

In his talk, James will be providing his insights into what makes a startup successful. James will explain that startups have many advantages compared to larger competitors. However, startups also have potential weaknesses compared to larger, well-established operations. James will demonstrate how successful startups make sure that they address these potential weaknesses and turn them into strengths.

 

  1. Neil Ray, Investor and mentor of startups

Investment Roadmap for London-based startups

Neil is an innovator & entrepreneur with an IT background; including a degree in Business Computing Systems with honors & 10 years’ experience globally helping businesses grow through a combination of talent acquisition & sales skills. Neil has worked in a number of interim manager roles for recruitment companies & now uses his experience to invest in other recruitment consultants to set up their own brands, as well as providing advisory, talent acquisition & capital raising services to a variety of startups.

In his talk, Neil will reveal us the secrets of the investment landscape in London, such as the most important measures investors are looking for when they determine their investment, the most promising sector he would like to invest in, what makes a good pitch, how important is a good business plan, how vital is a good relationship between investors and founder and many more…

 

  1. David Murray-Hundley, The Grumpy Entrepreneur, Founder, Investor and Mentor

Mistakes all startups make

Produced first game aged 10 commercially and got into Tech so he could hack the Pentagon after watching WarGames. In 1999 Grumps went on to be part of the founding team at Commerce One which later IPO’d at $22bn. Currently Director for Borrow My Doggy, Tech and Commercial Scaling Board Advisory for Opun, Brabham Digital, Crowdstacker, Nine Yards Capital, CEO and Founder of Adaro, Exonar and Investor Director for IW capital and Pario Ventures. Mentor at Level 39 and Google.

In his talk, David will talk honestly about text book errors that startups make.

 

The second half will focus on pitching with 2 founders of tech companies explaining their businesses to the audience followed by Q&A. The 2 startups are:
