Speaker 1, Rebecca Faulkner, Behavioural Scientist, Rufus Leonard
Topic: Designing across borders – why cultural understanding matters to UX
In today’s connected world, digital and website interfaces created by teams in London are used by people globally with wildly different experiences and expectations to our own. The unwitting assumption behind this is that universally people respond to designs in the same way based on our hardwiring. But is this really the case?
Behavioural Scientist Rebecca Faulkner will talk through some key psychological findings investigating whether our brains are really wired the same, sharing some top tips for designing for cultures other than our own.
Speaker 2, Andy Marshall, Head of UX – Rufus Leonard
Topic: Designing and engineering time
If you work in UX, you’ll likely produce scamps, wireframes, or maybe something a little more higher fidelity. But how do we consider time as an element when designing experiences?
In this talk we’ll explore different aspects of designing with time. From what’s within and outside our perceptions of time, to how much of a time saving is enough to be noticed by users. And from how we talk about units of time, to why the speed of technology creates mistrust.
