Raising SEIS Investment

(Photo: The Shard and London Bridge – Colour Pop by JackPease Photography)

The second event with Buckworth Solicitors will be just before our

Great Pitching Evening III – pitching for the investment.

It would be very beneficial to members who are thinking of seeking the investment to get information on EIS and SEIS.

Buckworths solicitors were very kind to accept our invitation to give a talk on this matter. They are well know for their assistance and contribution to start up scene, SME and big corporate businesses.

I personally had an opportunity to use their service and I was very happy with them, especially Michael Buckworth who will be our speaker.

Michael Buckworth MA (Oxon) trained and practiced at two of the best law firms in the world and has worked for some of the leading financial institutions and companies as well as smaller companies and individuals.

Education Michael Buckworth was educated at Warwick School in Warwickshire and then studied law at Merton College, Oxford University from where he graduated with an LLB (Hons) degree. He trained at the top US firm, Shearman & Sterling LLP and qualified as a corporate lawyer into their Mergers and Acquisitions department.

Michael Buckworth has acted for a number of UK, European and American financial institutions including hedge funds, banks, , equity fundraisings and restructurings and other corporate matters.

In addition Michael Buckworth has acted for a number of FTSE 500 companies and smaller private companies as well as their shareholders and would-be purchasers.

Michael Buckworth is a fellow of the RSA and works extensively with social enterprises and not-for-profit organisations.

He is an extremely high calibre of lawyer offering the high quality of advice given by City law firms.

SEIS, EIS and Grant Funding

Michael Buckworth will give an overview of the

– Seed Enterprise Investment Scheme (SEIS) and the

– Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS).

The session will explain why SEIS and EIS are two of the most generous (and widely used) tax incentive schemes for investors in start ups in the world and

why every entrepreneur needs to know about it and (where possible) take advantage of it!

The session will also touch on the availability of grant funding for companies and why it makes sense to secure grant funding in parallel with raising investment.

You will have an opportunity to ask the questions you might have.
