With over 900 million estimated smartphone users, the app market in China is huge, but how can you access it? The China-Britain Business Council in cooperation with the Mayor’s International Business Programme is pleased to present a full day event focusing on this market.

The morning session will feature experts in the field covering such topics as; the structure of the market, current trends in pricing, typical distribution channels, getting apps on the market, and how to protect your IP in China.

In the afternoon, the Mayor’s International Business Programme team will lead a Cultural Hackathon on how to localize for the Chinese market. This Cultural Hackathon will focus on both the language difference between apps and platforms developed for western markets, and also the cultural, visual and user experience differences to be taken into account by companies wishing to expand into the Chinese market with a customer facing interface.

The workshop-based event will present a case study of a previous app that has been adapted for the Chinese market, focussing on the key points to consider when adapting a product.

A roundtable session will then take place where an existing UK app will be adapted by a China advisor with input and Q&A’s from the attendees during the process.

This event is free and open to the public with lunch and afternoon refreshments provided.
