Beginner’s Guide To Intellectual Property

(Photo: Sun protection by Uwe Potthoff)

An understanding of intellectual property and its protection is vital for anyone with an idea, whether it’s an invention, a brand name or a song.

This session will introduce the four areas of intellectual property and help you understand which may apply to you and your business:

  • Patents
  • Trade marks
  • Registered designs
  • Copyright

There will be an opportunity to ask questions of our expert staff.

For more detail on a particular area of intellectual property, try our dedicated workshops on each of the four areas.

What our users say:

”I cannot overly stress the importance of getting early impartial intellectual property advice on your invention idea, as it can be the key to its success – whether you intend to bring the invention to market yourself, license it or sell it outright (or a mixture of these)”– Mark Sheahan, Inventor in Residence, British Library.

“Clear presentation and chance to ask questions”– Momtaz Begum-Hossain

“Interactivity of the workshop makes it interesting and informative”– Haakon Pedersen
